The car came with the three-inch lift from Paco Motorsports and the 27-inch General Grabbers. The first thing I did was upgrade to the 5.38 gears from Paco and then I got a bigger radiator. Stock Miata radiators are garbage.

All of it is a problem! You’re making a sports car do something it was never meant to do, so expect to break down…a lot.

Yes. If you’re going to race in desert races you need a full cage. However, there are a few rally cross series that only require a hard top or a roll bar. The HooptieX series offered by the good folks at the Gambler 500 is a good place to start.

Heck yeah it’s scary! You’re out there with vehicles three times your size with five times your horsepower. But Buddy wins at smiles per mile.

Mostly it’s just that people smile when they see him. I love that he brings joy to everyone he meets.

Just start! I really didn’t know anything about building a car before starting with Buddy. Now at least I know what I don’t know! Surround yourself with good people, search YouTube for tutorials and don’t be afraid to fail!
